Ken Fisher and Stuart Shorenstein Recognized Among City & State New York’s Law Power 100

New York – March 22, 2021 — Kenneth K. Fisher, a member of Cozen O'Connor’s Business Law Department, and Stuart A. Shorenstein, a member of Cozen O’Connor Public Strategies and chair of the New York City and state practice, were named to City & State New York’s Law Power 100. The list is based on “who’s having an impact in New York’s political and government spheres” and features prominent public officials, top legal advisers, and powerful prosecutors at the local, state and federal level. It highlights trailblazing civil rights attorneys, public interest lawyers, advocates for poor and homeless people, and leaders of the #MeToo movement. It includes law school deans, bar association presidents, public defenders, and legally trained advocates and experts shaping key policies in New York.

Fisher and Shorenstein are said to have “a wealth of expertise across multiple fields between the two lawyers, including land use, communications law, government relations and real estate.” Fisher in particular is described as “deeply knowledgeable regarding both the city’s land use processes and the political factors at play” and Shorenstein is referred to as a lawyer who “helped the nonprofit Manhattan Community Access Corporation win a First Amendment case before the U.S. Supreme Court in 2019.”

Fisher concentrates his practice on the public realm of the New York metropolitan area with a focus on real estate development, regulatory law, litigation, and investigations. He is a former New York City council member and served as founding chair of the New York City Chapter of the New York League of Conservation Voters and was founding chair of the Governors Island Alliance. He also serves on the board of the Brooklyn Chamber of Commerce and is chair of the Brooklyn Bar Association Committee on Government & the Public Sector.

For four decades, Shorenstein has focused his practice on communications law, representing a broad swath of clients in broadcasting, cable, publishing, and new media. And, In 2019, he helped win a major victory at the United States Supreme Court that established new precedent on a seminal issue involving the First Amendment. Shorenstein also focuses on government relations and advocacy services, providing clients with strategic advice to advance their agendas before legislators, administrations, regulatory policymakers, members of the media, or third-party interest groups in New York, Washington, D.C., and beyond. He has served on the Clinton Presidential Transition Team and on transition teams for statewide officeholders. He has also provided strategic advice to numerous public-office candidates, including senators, governors, congressmen, and local and state officeholders.
