Ian R. Blum is experienced in all aspects of intellectual property including patent, trademark, copyright and computer law.
Ian is a registered patent attorney and focuses his practice on the procurement and enforcement of intellectual property rights, the preparation of patent infringement and validity opinions, and client counseling on intellectual property matters, as well as substantial experience in trademark and copyright procurement and enforcement. He advises clients on the IP aspects of corporate transactions and e-commerce and negotiates the transfer of intellectual property rights. His experience in the field of patent procurement is quite diverse, and his practice covers many areas of technology, including computers, image processing, communications, automotive components and finance. He has assisted clients regarding patent portfolio development, patent clearance searches, negotiating and drafting IP license agreements, and rendering trademark and copyright advice. He has assisted in all aspects of intellectual property litigation, including pretrial discovery, motion practice, taking and defending depositions, working with experts to prepare reports, preparing witnesses for trial, and trial preparation and support.
Prior to practicing law, Ian worked as an electrical engineer in the defense and communication industries for more than ten years. His engineering work included microwave and RF circuit design, and analysis for radar and communication systems.
Ian received his undergraduate degree from Illinois Institute of Technology in 1987. He then received his master's degree from Polytechnic University in 1994, and his law degree from Pace University School of Law in 1998, cum laude.
