Emma Lombard

Associate

Emma is part of the firm’s Commercial Litigation Department, focusing her practice on commercial litigation and regulatory business counseling. In her litigation practice, Emma represents clients in class actions, multiparty, and individual litigation in federal and state courts and in arbitration. She defends clients against putative class actions involving a variety of state and federal statutory consumer claims, including those involving allegedly deceptive and unfair trade and marketing practices, as well as cases involving the highly regulated telecommunications, energy, and data privacy and cybersecurity industries.

In her regulatory practice, Emma routinely counsels clients regarding regulatory proceedings, state and federal financial incentives and opportunities, and emerging regulations and legislation in the energy sector. She counsels clients regarding all aspects of their business operations and helps them update and adjust their operations based upon new and emerging regulations and guidance from state and federal authorities. Emma also identifies targeted growth opportunities for businesses engaged in the energy sector by monitoring and identifying funding opportunity announcements, notices of intent, and related publications and priorities announced by state and federal agencies, thereby enabling clients to maximize their potential.

Emma has extensive experience defending clients in all stages of litigation, including representing businesses, educational and religious institutions, insurance carriers, and other commercial and nonprofit entities facing various tort claims, professional liability claims, and putative class actions.

Emma has counseled clients experiencing cybersecurity and data-related incidents by guiding them through the complex regulatory landscape governing data breach notifications. She has also worked closely with clients to help create and implement security policies, procedures, and related measures tailored to their organizational and business needs.

Prior to joining Cozen O’Connor, Emma was an associate in the Princeton, N.J., office of a national law firm where she split her practice between commercial litigation, energy regulatory counseling, and data breach incident response.

Emma earned her B.A. from the University of California, Santa Barbara and earned her J.D. from Seton Hall University School of Law, where she was a senior editor of the Seton Hall Law Review. During law school, Emma served as a law-student extern for the U.S. Attorneys’ Office for the District of New Jersey and as a corporate compliance fellow in the Legal Department of Horizon Blue Cross Blue Shield of New Jersey.
