Janet Rayo

Associate

Janet focuses her practice on complex commercial litigation, with an emphasis on business litigation, contract disputes, and complex construction matters. Janet’s niche is fiduciary litigation where she has represented clients in matters relating to breaches of fiduciary duty, including improper asset management, administration, and distributions, as well as will and trust contests on the grounds of undue influence, lack of capacity, and fraud. Janet has tried cases in both state and federal court and has successfully settled cases involving multimillion dollar claims.

Janet was a summer associate at the firm in 2018. While in law school, she was a teaching assistant for Professor Lozada’s Legal Skills & Values I and a judicial intern for Chief Judge Leslie Rothenberg, Third District Court of Appeal in Miami.

Janet earned her law degree, magna cum laude, from Florida International University College of Law. While obtaining her law degree, Janet was a Dean’s Scholar and a recipient of the Cali award; she also placed within the top ten of her class. While on Moot Court – FIU Law Board of Appellate Advocates – Janet earned the Best Orator award in the Intramural Appellate Advocacy Competition, and four awards during her participation in Philip C. Jessup International Law Moot Court 2018 and 2019. 

Prior to obtaining her law degree, Janet double majored at Florida International University, earning a Bachelor of Science in criminal justice, summa cum laude, and her Bachelor of Arts in psychology, summa cum laude.

Janet’s work ethic and character shed light on her success as an Associate; her willingness to listen, and attention to detail provide the perfect combination for clients. Janet is fluent in Spanish.
