Courtney has experience in all stages of discovery, litigation, and trial preparation in state and federal court. Prior to joining Cozen O’Connor, Courtney was an associate with a full service national law firm, where she focused on mass tort litigation matters, including those involving asbestos and product liability. Before that, she worked as an employment law attorney, advising businesses of all sizes on matters relating to the ADA, FMLA, FLSA, Title VII of the Civil Rights Act, USERRA, and OSHA Regulations, and worker’s compensation. She drafted policies and procedures to ensure employer compliance with federal, state, and local laws.

After earning her B.A. from Salve Regina University, Courtney spent the first four years of her career serving on active duty in the U.S. Army, where she was frequently responsible for numerous personnel and millions of dollars of equipment. She deployed to Afghanistan in 2012-2013 and, upon leaving active service, joined the U.S. Army Reserves, where she has continued to serve for the last nine years. Attaining the rank of Major, Courtney has since held the position of Battalion Executive Officer, Commander, Brigade Signal Corp Officer, and most recently, Brigade Judge Advocate, where she is responsible for advising the Brigade Commander on all legal and policy-related matters. She has served as a prosecutor during Administrative Separation Boards and regularly coordinates with members of the General Officer staff.

Following her time on active duty, Courtney joined the Federal Bureau of Investigation as a Special Agent. There, she was responsible for investigating cases of foreign counterintelligence threats, conducting surveillance, analyzing large amounts of data, and interviewing subjects concerning violations of federal law.

Courtney earned her J.D. from New England Law School, where she obtained a certificate in Compliance and Risk Management. She also holds a professional certificate in U.S. Business and Constitutional Law from Penn State University. During law school, she served as an Intern for the U.S. Attorney’s Office in the District of Massachusetts and as a Judicial Intern at Cambridge District Court.
